Change is an environmental constant for all organisations. Those organisations which will survive and prosper are those which are capable of effective change. Major changes are driven through programmes and projects; temporary business structures that deliver against both strategic goals and tactical objectives. Shockingly, however, highly-respected research suggests that 80% of projects fail to deliver substantial business benefits, 73% of respondents felt that their projects are nearly always ‘doomed from the start’ and 17% of all large IT-related projects go so badly that they threaten the existence of the organisation. Rarely does a week go by without news of another high-profile delay, budget overrun or closure of a problem-hit project. But the reasons for project failure are generally predictable.

Programme and Project Assurance

Programme and project assurance enables management to have confidence that major change initiatives are being managed well. Whether your project has adopted an agile or a more traditional approach, we can help you determine if sufficient controls are in place to ensure the programme or project is fully aligned with the organisation’s objectives and stays that way.

How does Project Assurance Work?

A project assurance review can be used to deliver a ‘point in time’ health check or can be incorporated into the on-going programme or project lifecycle. It can be commissioned by the programme or project board, as a means of maintaining control over the delivery teams, or by a higher level of stakeholder management to provide an additional layer of governance.

Training and Controls Design

As an alternative to providing an independent opinion on the effectiveness of project management controls, we can also help training staff who operate these controls or even assist in designing and implementing these mechanisms.

- Why BTRP?

  • Although far from wedded to a single project management approach, our project assurance experts are qualified in Prince2 and/or MSP and have worked on dozens of these assignments, giving them a breadth of experience that even few professional project managers can rival.
